What is Sportsmanship? Sportsmanship is…
1) A full commitment to participation while learning by your mistakes to better your game.
2) A full respect for the officials and rules while playing.
3) A full respect for all players including one’s opponent praising and congratulating!
4) And above all: Keeping and Maintaining a Positive Attitude - win or lose!
The person I have chosen to receive the 2008 Sportsmanship Award possesses all of these qualities at all levels of play whether it’s a blind draw, league play, or a major tournament.
To me this person is one of my dart idols, always taking a rookie player without complaint & showing him or her how to play to the best of their ability… always showing encouragement & praise while helping them to improve and bring their game to a winning level.
This person has patiently helped me in a number of games, encouraging me to continue playing & helping me get through those not so good games when I felt discouraged.
I hope everyone agrees that Johnny Scales is most deserving of this award and will give him the congratulations he so well deserves! Thank you Johnny Scales!
